The village of Saintes Maries de la mer hosts the annual pilgrimage of the Gypsies. This place where Camargue traditions are very present and respected: parade of Arlésiennes in costume, abrivado, bandido, Camargue races with Cocardiers, the best bulls from the herds, and raseteurs. Raseteurs are the main actors of the Camargue race. They generally face, in pairs, threes, or more, an animal called a cocardier, a very lively and light castrated bull, from which they attempt to remove the prized attributes adorning its head. They perform a variety of rasets allowing them to move the animal, and are assisted by turners.
